Ventura Park: Revisited (2020)

The last time I visited Ventura Park, in 2017, the remodeled playground wasn't quite finished. In fact, most of it was still fenced off and inaccessible. I was able to get photos of some of the climbing sculptures that had been constructed, and I could only speculate about what the rest of the playground would eventually look like. It seemed, at that point, that the new playground was an odd mix of natural and industrial aesthetics, and I wasn't quite sure that it worked.

Today, I visited again. And... yeah, this is a really unusual park. But I can see how the fact that it is different could be wholly mesmerizing to a child. It's very open, which is nice for keeping an eye on your kiddos. It also has a good amount of climbing surfaces and things to do. No, you won't find any factory-produced slides, here, but it does appear as though some kids have figured out that a piece of cardboard does turn that hill into something similar.
