Farragut Park - N Portland - 7.20.09

Farragut Park

When I first arrived at this park, I was a bit disappointed that all the equipment was relatively modern. But I came at a perfect time -- the playground was devoid of children, and the sun made some really cool shadows on the structure. So I've decided it's not so bad after all.

According to Portlandonline.com: "Farragut Park was named after Admiral David Glasgow Farragut who, although born in Tennessee, fought for the North in the Civil War. He was a hero who is famous for saying, 'Damn the torpedoes! Full speed ahead!'"

Who knew?

Location: Farrugut St. & N. Kerby Ave.
