Grant Park
Grant Park is yet another Portland park that mixes old and new equipment. There are metal teeter-totters and a slide, and more recent plastic-type pieces of equipment.
But the coolest thing about this park is the shrine to Beverly Cleary, author of the Ramona Quimby books. There are statues of Ramona, Henry Huggins, and Henry's Dog Ribsy, as well as bricks with word carvings, one for each of Cleary's children's novels, as well as her first autobiography. In the summer, this area becomes some kind of fountain, which I have yet to see. It's a wonderful tribute to an author who grew up in this area, and to her wonderful books.
Location: NE 33rd Ave and U.S. Grant Place
